Our vision for your child – SHANARRI

Safe, Healthy, Achieving, Nurtured, Active, Respected, Responsible, Included.

We are committed to the creation of conditions for learning that will enhance and facilitate your child’s construction of their own powers of thinking through the synthesis of all the expressive, communicative and cognitive languages. We work with the Pre Birth to Three curriculum, the Curriculum for Excellence and Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC) – these are National Guidelines for Pre School education.

In addition to these, we adhere to The Reggio Approach to Learning in that we do not see children as empty vessels that require filling with facts. Rather we see children as full of potential, competent and capable of having their own interests and developing themselves as individuals. We value and recognise children’s individuality, effort and achievements, and will help your child grow to be successful learners, responsible citizens, effective contributors and confident, self assured individuals.

Learning through Play

It is vital that early reading experiences are happy and positive. The aim should be not just for children to learn and read, but to enjoy reading. Whilst games may appear to be an indirect approach, they do protect a child from a feeling of failure. By ‘playing together’ both parent and child are relaxed. Where a child could feel pressured in a formal teaching situation, he/she will usually enjoy reading activities in a ‘play situation’.

Spanish Class – Wednesday mornings

Did you know that currently the languages with the most native speakers in the Western Hemisphere are Spanish, English, Portuguese and French, in that order?

As part of our weekly routine, the children in our Educare room participate in a weekly Spanish lesson. Classes are fun and  highly  interactive – each lesson encompasses play, music, drama, puppets and creative arts and the children love taking part.
